Google is all over its launches at the moment here in the UK. Hot on the heels of Google Books comes Google Video, which brings you movie rentals to your Android handset or tablet. There are currently around 1,000 titles, but they are recent and decent movies, and they cost between £2.49 and £3.49. The market gives you a chance to view a clip and read a synopsis, and once you’ve bought something, you’ve got 30 days to watch it. Start the video, though, and you have to finish watching it in 48 hours. In your movie library, there’s also a tab for similar films, so if you’re a lover of Reservoir Dogs it’ll push you towards the likes of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Whilst Netflix is getting its act together regarding movie rentals on your phone, this is a pretty good solution. Will it stay front of the pack? Time will tell.
