I can not lie to you, Frackulous viewers. I didn’t want to love the Sky News app, and yet somehow, I find myself wondering if it’s actually the best designed iPad app I’ve ever seen. And then I wonder if it’s the best app I’ve ever seen. And then I remember Angry Birds. But seriously, it’s amaze balls, awesome sauce and ZOMG. In fact, it’s every bit of irritating internet hyperbole ever invented. Enter the app and you’ll find a timeline of news stories, and you can scroll back up to 24 hours to see what you’ve missed. Hit Top Stories, and you’ll be able to see the important stuff. And that’s when the coolness happens. Tap a story, and the video of the report will start. You can then delve deeper into it - there’s images to view and infographics to explore, and all the while, the video report plays in the corner. My favourite feature is the Back Story tab, which gives you the history of the event in question - perfect if you’re guilty of not keeping entirely up to date on current affairs. Finally, there’s the Live button, which will show you what’s on Sky News now. There is a good chance that this app will enable you to hold your own in future World Event conversations.
