Get ready to be smug robot fans: we7’s new music service has launched first on Android. Double smugface: you can listen to offline music for free too. Take that, Spotify. The free version doesn’t let choose the tracks you want to listen to directly – instead you get themed radio channels. These can be things like the UK Top 40, 80s classics or artist specific – so pick someone you like and you’ll get their tracks and songs by artists similar to them. Tracks are cached over wifi, so you can still listen when you’re outside wireless coverage. In exchange for all this free music, you’ll have to listen to ads every now and then. There’s also a £9.99 monthly sub which not only nixes the ads but also lets you create on-demand playlists where you can choose all the tracks yourself. Great if you’re both picky and rich.
